March Ipsy Box 2014 + Swatches!

My March Ipsy box finally arrived, and I am happy to say that I am pretty pleased with this month’s beauty box. Although there were only 4 items, I was still satisfied because the quality of the items are pretty decent. So without further ado, this month’s beauty box!

In this month’s Ipsy bag, I received the following:

(1) NYX Love in Rio Eyeshadow Trio in The Brazilian
Price
: $5.99

ImageLove, love, love that Ipsy included a wearable, everyday shade mini eyeshadow palette this time! I could definitely see myself wearing this around everyday. The colors included are a dark matte brown, a shimmery toffee, and a light pink highlighter. ImageThe pigmentation honestly isn’t all that great. The dark matte brown has the best pigmentation, whereas the toffee has only average and you can barely see the highlighter. It’s a lot better if you wear primer underneath it though! The included eyeshadow brush isn’t that great either, it’s just a regular drugstore one.

(2) Chella Eyeliner Pen in Indigo Blue
Price: $24.00

Image

This is a liquid felt tip eyeliner in Indigo. I was a little apprehensive about wearing a dark blue eyeliner, but it turns out that it looks pretty natural from afar and doesn’t even look like blue until you’re close up! Image The ink is phenomenal and has really great staying power. It also dries very quickly. The tip is very fine, so it might be hard to draw a nice thick line, but is perfect for drawing thin ones. I love trying out new things, so I’m excited to wear this out more. I would definitely not spend $24 on it though– maybe if it was half off!

(3) Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready
Full Size: .12 oz $18.00 // Sample Size Price: .053 oz $7.95

ImageForgot to take a photo, so I just found one online…

Although this was in mini size, I have to admit that I was very impressed with both the color and the formula for this lipstick! It was so rich and creamy and leaves a beautiful dusky-rose glow on your lips that is simply gorgeous. It’s a little purplish too. I really like this one. Image

(4) Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer
Full Size: 1.3 fl oz $22.00 // Sample Size: .4 fl oz $6.77

Image

I tried using the Pixi primer on my NYX Rio palette, but it didn’t really work. My UDPP worked as usual and brought the colors out really beautifully. Honestly, this facial primer is a little too shimmery and oily for daily wear and it doesn’t seem like it helps much in bringing out the colors or keeping the staying power on. It’s very light and shimmery though so I might use it as a highlighter?

Anyway, I’m very, very happy with this months Ipsy and I can’t wait for April! The total price of this months bag is over $40, which is great considering that I pay only $10 a month to try out these new products. Image I have to say that my favorites this month must be the eyeliner and lipstick though. Hooray for  beauty boxes!

[REVIEW] Ipsy February 2014 Beauty Box — My first one!

I am SOOOO excited to say that my first beauty box has arrived! Image I decided to suscribe to Ipsy in the middle of January 2014 and now my first personalized beauty box is here for $10. Let’s see how it goes!

Image

Beauty boxes are basically subscription services that send you a beauty box every month, much like a magazine (except instead of a magazine you get a bunch of beauty stuff)! You can’t pick the things you get though, but it’s great for trying out new things because it’s relatively affordable and they are all sample sized, although sometimes you even get full sized sample boxes!! Plus, they even make you take a quiz so they can better suit your needs and send you things you are more likely to use. I picked Ipsy because they send makeup, while other beauty boxes can also send skin care and hair care and even purely nail polish. Ipsy is $10 a month and is a great starter box for newbies like me.

So, when my first Ipsy bag arrived today I was ecstatic! This is what I got:

Not bad for $10, right? Let’s see a little more about each individual product…

Image

(1) Pacifica Hawaiin Ruby Guava Body Lotion (Full Size Retail $15) —  I’ve heard lots of things about Pacifica so I wasn’t surprised when I opened this up and smelled absolute heaven. The scent is amazing and reminds me of a tropical island. Also, when I put it on my hands they immediately became as soft as baby butts. I don’t use body lotion often though  but maybe I’ll make an exception this one time because it just smells sooooo good.  Image

(2) Zoya in Odette (Retail $9) — Yes, a FULL SIZED Zoya in a gorgeous lavender color! It’s from their new Naturel line too. Normally they retail around $9 so this already makes up for most of the beauty box haha. I normally don’t wear nail polish either but this looks beautiful!

Image(3) EyeTini Cream Shadow + Base in Spiced Rum (Retail $18) — My first cream shadow! I was originally worried I wasn’t going to like it but it blends beautifully on my skin and is an amazing bronze color. It blends so easily and is super creamy with a slight shimmer in it too. I can’t believe it retails for $18 though!

Here are some swatches on how beautifully it blends. Image

Image(4) Pop Beauty Plump Pout Lip Gloss Mini in Fuschia Freesia (Full Size Retail $16) — This is the only thing out of the whole batch I don’t know if I’m going to use. I’m not a fan of neon pinks and much prefer naturals and neutrals, but meh, maybe I’ll give it a go since I’ve heard some pretty good things about this lip gloss!

(5) J.Cat Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue in 747L (Retail $3) — Hooray! My first falsies as well. I’ve been looking to find some eyelashes and eyelash glue, honestly, so I was pleased that this included both. These eyelashes are a bit dramatic for me though, so hopefully I’ll be able to use the glue multiple times to glue other eyelashes onto me.

All in all I’m pretty happy with my first Ipsy bag. I’m disappointed I didn’t get the Be Matte blush that was available, but I’m excited to see what other things they have in the future. I’ll probably be doing more in depth product reviews for each one of these sometime in the future so stay tuned and thanks for reading! Image
